Two strengths that I have in school is collaboration and flexibility. I feel like I can collaborate well because I can talk to people really easily and come up with ideas that everyone can agree on. In my own words, the definition of collaboration is, to work easily with other people and to communicate well with your group members. One example of this is when I collaborated with my Rube Goldberg group to make sure that everyone was pleased with the idea and concept. I feel like I am flexible in working because I can have a very open mind and still like the new idea. My definition for flexibility is, to sway one way or another without caring or being disappointed. One example of this is when we were coming up with an idea for the project and my idea did not get picked. I was being flexible by accepting the idea and growing with it.
Two weaknesses that I have are being a risk-taker and having analytic thinking. I need to work on this because often times I think of an average idea and go along with it. I will not go above and beyond to create an amazing idea. What being a risk-taker really means, being brave and trying new things, embracing differences in your environment. One example of this was for a project in 8th grade. We had to make a video and mine was very boring and average. I could've made it more interactive and funny. I also need to work on thinking more analytically, because I often think of one idea and move on with it, I don’t come up with a series of ideas and chose my favorite. The definition of an analytical thinker means, to have purpose in your idea, thinking it through many times. One example of this was for my mask, I thought of one idea and then went with it. I should’ve come up with multiple ideas and chose my favorite.
I can work on this by thinking of what I’m going to do before I do it. Analyze my ideas and decide my favorite and think about how I would fulfill the idea.
I hope this project will be successful and interactive. With how long we have taken to come up with this idea, I hope it will be everything we want it to be.The process of exhibition prototyping we took was extended to the maximum, yet it worked really well for our class.
As parents are reflecting and talking about this exhibition, I want them to be thinking about all of the work that went into it and how much time and energy we put into it. They should recognize how wonderful the teachers were that helped us get to this final stage. We want to show them that we can go above and beyond of what is expected of us. From the perspective of a sociology professor, I would like them to think about how amazing this exhibition is, that teenagers planned this wonderful event. To think that their college students couldn’t even do this, we want to show them that the youth in this community is strong and are passionate about their education.
The best way to make sure the audience is learning what we want them to is make all of the information clear and understandable.
In 9th grade Humanities we just finished the content portion of our Socialization and Identity project. For the last couple of weeks we have been focusing on what we want to do for the exhibition piece of this project. Today, we selected one final idea that we will be creating for our exhibition. The final idea was a maze that parents and community members will go through. This maze will take you through all of the agents of socialization. When walking through the maze, you will be tagged by many different factor of peoples identity. These will be random and not targeted at you. The purpose of this exhibition is to show people different perspectives of how other people have been socialized and how different characteristics change the person you become.
The problem this exhibition is showing to community members and parents is to demonstrate what we have been learning also to educate them about the harmful cycle of socialization.
I am very excited for this exhibition because it is like no other we have had. This idea really stuck out to me as one of the best ways to demonstrate what we have been learning. My idea, along with many other people’s, was similar to this one. I feel like this idea was what everybody had in mind, this idea took the words out of everyone’s mouth and is the perfect idea for a socialization exhibition.
The roles that I am interested in are fundraising and exhibition crew. I am interested in fundraising because I feel like I can communicate with people really well about this idea and show them how much they can help. I am also interested in exhibition crew because I like to be involved with organization and with this job, I can help construct new elements and help keep this idea organized.
I really liked this was of coming up with this idea because everybody had their own voice for their ideas for the exhibition.
